It’s official! MROC will be running the 2026 ALRC National Rally! We will be hosting it at Green Hall Farm, the new Majors site. Richard Smith has kindly offered to be Event Director and has already has all of the key team-leading people in place, however this will need a full club effort to get it done; there are lots of jobs that need volunteers, from help for site services, making up rally packs, laying out camping fields and, as ever, we will need marshals for all events. If you are able to lend a hand, please speak to Richard, Ruth or myself and we can make sure you have a job to do!

Additional details will be communicated via this website, socials, emails and future Journals.
At the National: Super new spectator event...
Alongside the usual events and entertainment for the 2026 National Rally, this year we have the Lancashire-based Red Rose Land Rover Club giving a
demonstration of their “War of the Roses” event on the Saturday evening. For those who have never taken part or spectated this event, it promises to
be very entertaining!
The actual War event, which has been running for over 40 years, is where 9 teams of six people in three Land Rovers compete in an event best described
as a ‘Krypton factor meets winch challenge’. It was an early winch challenge event, but has maintained a similar format throughout the years, enabling
entrants to be competitive with standard vehicles and minimum equipment.
The competition, which MROC have entered many times and won the shield in 2008, consists of a series of varied tasks that take skill and ingenuity to
complete, involving a mix of trialling, winching and team-based challenges.
“The tasks include moving awkward heavy objects around courses, requiring plenty of thought and not just physical effort or winch power” said Charles
Whitaker, one of the MROC team to have taken part. He continued: “tasks may also include driving blindfold under instruction, or completing a task in
silence without verbal communication. You may need to build bridges, or construct aerial rope ways, fish objects out of ravines, move a dead vehicle
around an off road course... and then there’s the trailer which has featured in many events and quite literally has a mind of its own, as it’s winched
and tugged around a course, usually with an awkward object attached to it. To add to all this there are time penalties for exceeding the time
allocated, so tactics and working as a team are very important”.
It all makes for great spectating and we are looking forward to seeing what they come up with for their Demonstration Evening!
Overall, this year’s ALRC National Rally promises to be an exciting and sociable weekend, so come along and enjoy the events, soak up the ambience,
and relax over a beer with your club members and like-minded enthusiasts.

NEW LAND FOR CCV TRIAL!
Please support us with this event as new sites do not come along very often!
Our first CCV of the year is at Apely Estate, Bridgnorth on Sunday 8th March, sourced via Steve Blackham.
This is a new site to us, and we are starting with a CCV initially, with hopes of having larger events in the future with multiple disciplines.
Approximate postcode is TF11 9EQ, but full directions and W3W for site entrance will be given closer to the event.
We’re proud to announce that the Midland Rover Owners Club (MROC) has been awarded the Motorsport UK People Accreditation, recognising our commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment across all our events and activities. This accreditation is part of Motorsport UK’s broader initiative to support clubs in developing best practices around safeguarding, training, equality, and volunteer support.
This award is a testament to the dedication of our committee, marshals, and members who go above and beyond to make MROC a standout club within the off-road and motorsport community. We remain committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring everyone—whether a first-time spectator or long-time competitor—feels part of the MROC family.
Competitors : Remember to apply for your 2026 Competition Licence . if you haven't already been contacted by Motorsport UK, please go onto their website and follow the relevant links for renewal or a new Licence. The process is allegedly easier, but the verdict is not so sure from people who've already done it !
Major's CCV Trial : Last year's Major's CCV trial was another success & everybody appears to have enjoyed themselves ! The new site up in Shropshire has lots of variety & the trials sections got lots of praise from the competitors. Big thanks to the Clerks of the Course, event organisers, competitors & the marshals - without all of you, the event wouldn't go ahead as well as it does !
This year's event has been booked with the land owners for 12th & 13th September 2026. Add it to your diaries now !
