As of this years AGM that took place at the Land Rover Social Club, Solihull on Tuesday 12th November. I made the decision to step down from the position of Chairman of the club after 3 years and step back and look at other roles that needed filling.
I nominated myself to take on the role of Green Lane Coordinator as I feel there are people within the club that are looking to do this. I understand that out of the vacant roles within the committee this is not a high-profile position to fill but this is all I can commit to at this time with the help of my partner in crime Mike Sharp.
To start the ball rolling I would like you to put a date in the diary for a trip I am looking to do between Christmas and New Year; Sunday 29th December 2019, as this is only around the corner I will be keeping it fairly local in the Warwickshire area so I can look at doing a recce before the proposed date. Some of you may have done these with me in the past but at this time of year with the dark evenings and mornings I will look at using as much of the daylight as possible.
During 2020 I will be looking at going a little further out and possibly making a weekend of it – giving you the choice to join us for the day or staying out for the whole weekend, either camping or at a B&B. Who knows but for now, let’s keep it simple.
Moving along, we do have to be cautious on groups sizes when green laning as we are advised to keep the groups no larger than 6 vehicles per group at a maximum, 4 is the recommended. To make sure we have enough wiling people to lead a group along with me, can I please ask you to either email, text or call me if you are interested so I can give you more details on the day, this way I can keep an eye on numbers as in the past we have had so many people turn up which is great, but then not enough people to lead so we are going against the code of conduct.
As mentioned above I would like to use as much of the day as possible so looking to meet at 09:00 – possibly finishing around 16:00.
This will be a nice little break between Christmas and New Year if you are interested.
To cover the costs in the club we do ask for a small charge of £5 per vehicle.
I am happy to talk to anyone if you have any suggestions of trips you have done or are interested in doing.
Keep your eyes peeled for 2020 dates. Due to working January – March, the first month I will be looking at is April and then possibly alternate months, unless someone wants to run one for the club around February time.
Happy to help prep – just can’t do recce or lead.
For now, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Look forward to seeing you on the 29th December 2019.
