What a busy month we have had with the Major’s Memorial Trial happening. It was such a fantastic event. Well done to everyone involved, esp Ben Tandy and Hamish Grundy who were out the few weekends before the event laying all the sections out putting so much effort into making it challenging and technical. The time and effort was well worth it. Thanks to everyone else working behind the scenes to make things happen. Alex Griffiths and Richard Parry who put the time in to make sure we didn’t lose anyone in the woods and the team they had to help. Steve Odam for radios, Dan Fasham for being Chief Marshal and everyone who supported Dan and the event by marshalling. The team that sat in the marquee all day until quite late signing people on, Ruth Smith, Sarah Lees, Kathy and Martin Armstrong who also organised the lunches over both days for the officials. The days are long, the help is greatly appreciated. Not forgetting Tim Kemp, Richard Banks, Andy Dennis, Richard Smith and Tony Birch who did a bit of everything and anything over the weekend. The list goes on and on for thank you’s as a lot of effort was put in the working weekend in the deer park too, so thank you Dave and Maxine Ball, Kelly and Steve Cole . I hope you enjoyed the setting up as well as the main event as much as I did!
MM4x4, based in Droitwich also donated the bags and some goodies for the rally packs so if you need any parts for you motor, please support them as we would like them to support us in the future.
The event itself was amazing. We couldn’t of had better weather, it was great to see everyone smiling and supporting the event. We hope you continue in the future years. Well done to the winning teams, Hanks and Berks LRC for winning the Standard Class and Peak and Dukeries LRC for winning the Rose Bowl… or is it Bowel… More from the event in next month’s issue.
We have also held Party in the Park over the August Bank Holiday, it was great to see people come together and chat, cook and drink. Well done to Phil Baker who put on a fabulous Gymkhana, we had lots of new faces take part which was really nice to see. We hope this continues with future events. Looking ahead over the next few years, Party in the Park as it has been know will no longer be taking place as we as a club would like to support interclub events such as the Baskerville Challenge which happens over that same weekend. Camping will still be available at Eastnor for those who would like to continue, though we hope you will join us in supporting other ALRC Clubs.
Moving forward, we continue to have social events every month, check out the social page for future events . Shrubbery Touring Park, Lyme Regis has been booked for half term in October.
