Chair Page November 2017

Remember, Remember the 5th of November,

The gun powder treason and plot.

I should see no reason why the gun powder treason,

Should ever, be, forgot!!

Happy November Members…

Another month, done and dusted

Please find a draft copy of next year’s calendar and what weekends/weeks we are planning events. Most of the land is confirmed but please watch this space and check the website for any updates. Please note, that this is only a draft copy and events are still to be added due to committee changes this year updates will be done shortly after the AGM. This includes CCVT and Caravan/Camping.

Hope you have all had a happy Halloween, this past month in we have had an RTV at Birdlip and at Newmans Quarry, Kelly held the social at the little owl which is easy to get to from all areas but not many attendees, if you have any ideas and would like to share them, please contact Kelly as I am sure she would love to hear them.

Dave also held the Half Term Holiday Rally at Stepaside, unfortunately however, due to when the journal is printed I have no updates on this.

Moin onto what we have going on this month, we are starting it off with a bang… literally, at the Rose and Crown on the Portway for bonfire night, we then have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 8th Nov at the Land Rover Sports and Social Club, Solihull starting at 8pm.

Things may be changing over the next 12 months and if I am reelected for another year this maybe my last.

If you are interested in coming onto the committee, please fill out and nomination form and pass it on to a member of the committee.

I am also sad to say that we will also be looking for a new Journal Editor moving forward as Graeme will be stepping down as of the AGM but will continue to help and support us through to the end of the year unless someone is able and willing to take in on from him.

I will be sad to see you go Graeme as I believe you have done a wonderful job recreating the look and print quality of the journal, giving it your own personal touch like many have done before you. If anyone is interested in taking on Journal, please speak to Graeme or me for details.

Other current vacant positions are, Vice Chair, Green Lane Coordinator, Press and Publicity and Trials Coordinator.

We would really like to fill the role of Trials Coordinator, even if it starting off with the small jobs to relieve some pressure off the committee, and when I say committee I should say Paul Muir as he does a lot of the work, liaising with the land owners and updating the league table and promoting it on Facebook etc, thanks for your support Paul. If you would like to know more, please, please contact a committee member. I would like to take this time to mention, you do not need to have taken part in a trial to do this role, and it is more really about organising and making sure the events happen.

Also happening is the ALRC EGM at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Saturday 18th November, if you have never been to one of these meetings before and you have some spare time in the morning 10am – 12pm, please come along a support your club and to find out what is happening within the ALRC and what the future has installed for us.

RTV Whittington is taking place which is hosted by our neighbourly club CCROC on the 19th Nov. For more details please check the website.

We have had to cancel the CCVT open event at Aggs Hill on the 26th as we have not got the numbers to support the event due to vehicle rebuilds and family.

Hopefully 2018 will be a better year for those competing in the CCVT.

It won’t be long now until we will be singing Christmas carols and wearing our silly Christmas jumpers at the Christmas party which is taking place on the 1st December details can be found under the social page in both journal and website. This is an occasion for all ages so please come along with the family and join in.

Currently there is not a Christmas rally booked but we are looking into this to take place 8th – 10th December, possibly near Aggs Hill for the trial to combine the events. Please check the website and facebook if this is something you interesting in coming too.

Please check out the club merchandise as we have the enamel grill badges back and ready to sell. Liz is getting ready for the winter as we now have woolly hats and waterproof jackets available to buy.

If you would like to know more or order something, please contact Liz shop@mroc.co.uk

Thank you to club members who have shared their stories about either travelling or rebuilding a vehicle, we love to hear what you have been up too so keep sending them in, we would like to hear all about it.

**GOOD NEWS!!**

We have put MROC excepted to help with the 2018 National Rally TYRO held next May, we would like to get as many members on board with this so please contact me if this is something you would like to get involved with, the more people the easier it will be!

To get more involved join in with the social evenings, it’s a chance to speak to people face to face and they are always good fun.

Don’t forget to look ahead at the Christmas party, meal and rally in December.

Lots to do, looking forward to seeing you at one of the events of not all.

Well, I think I have gone on enough for this month.

Samantha
