We're typically out and about monthly, competing via off-road RTV or CCV trials or socialising via camping & caravan meets, Pub meets or Green Laning.
Excluding Green Laning events, most of our Club activities are within an area 50 miles West & South of Birmingham.
See Our Club & FAQs for more info about the Club before deciding if Membership interests you.
In addition to this website we have a Facebook page for general chat etc. NB You MUST respond to the Joining questions before you get access.
Please read!
The following is from our club's Scrutineer, Richard Banks. Please read and share widely - especially throughout the ALRC competition fraternity.
Comments are due by 15th September, to secretary@alrc.co.uk and I would suggest that you copy in your Club Scrutineer too.

Competition Regulation Consultation
Competitors, Marshals, Prospective Competitors – Please Take Note:
Many of you will be aware of the issues that have been blown up around the alleged inaccuracy of some vehicles and their external dimensions. Doors in particular.
Although the history of this issue is important, it is not the more pressing issue at this time.
Please read the attached Consultation document issued by the ALRC.
To the best of my knowledge the issues raised by the ALRC Consultation have not been raised via the Official Protest Process as governed by Motorsport UK. i.e. they did not come from a competitor(s) at an event protesting that a vehicle gained competitive advantage from a rule discrepancy. There are also, to the best of my knowledge no recorded safety issues for the affected vehicles.
The consultation is the result of a small committee making a decision to escalate committee discussion points into a disruption of the latest ALRC National Rally and Club Events.
MROC competitors and competitors from the wider ALRC community have a voice if you wish to use it. Either sit back and watch a limited number of individuals upset your competition or make your voice known.
The ALRC exists to serve the Member Clubs. At this time, the ALRC has no plan to progress the Guide Rules for our Single Marque Competition. The following statement is taken from the ALRC EGM minutes for 05 July 2025;
"5. Forward Plan – We continue to develop things as we go. There is no formal plan at the present time."
Disappointing, since the ALRC Green Book is essentially written around vehicle dimensions and parts that went out of production long before the end of the last century.
A personal opinion concerning Cross Members:
I will comment on the Rear Cross Member discussion using the example shown in the image.
In my opinion this design offers no competitive advantage, but does provide advantages to the vehicle and competition safety.
The design is open and easy to clean. No closed areas to catch mud leading to corrosion and weakness. For the Scrutineer, the open structure can be easily assessed for damage and/or corrosion and has sufficient strength to allow for vehicle recovery.
This should not be the subject of prohibition. It should be advanced as a progression to vehicle design that gets us away from an enclosed rear cross member design known for rapid corrosion.
R. Banks; August 2025

NB: this trial is a competition to test the driving skills of the best CCV drivers in the country and is not recommended for the inexperienced.

It’s official! MROC will be running the 2026 ALRC National Rally! We will be hosting it at Green Hall Farm, the new Majors site. Richard Smith has kindly offered to be Event Director and has already has all of the key team-leading people in place, however this will need a full club effort to get it done; there are lots of jobs that need volunteers, from help for site services, making up rally packs, laying out camping fields and, as ever, we will need marshals for all events. If you are able to lend a hand, please speak to Richard, Ruth or myself and we can make sure you have a job to do! Further details will be communicated via this website, socials, emails and future Journals.
Chris Morgan-Cettler : Chris's funeral will take place Thursday 8th May at Robinhood Crematorium at 1pm.
Information from the family is that dress code is whatever you're comfortable in & that they would like as many people to be in Landrovers or classic cars. They are planning on having a convoy, for those of you interested, please drop Matt Morgan-Cettler a message so he can give you the details.
Membership Renewals : If you joined or renewed in 2024 & HAVE NOT RENEWED yet this year, your paid-up Club Membership EXPIRED at the end of Feb. See the Membership Renewals page if you'd like to renew. If you "renew" after end of March, the fees are as for New Members.
I've sent all Membership Renewal packs out to those who've paid for renewal. If you've received nothing, contact me via email to membership@mroc.co.uk.
Competitors : Remember to apply for your 2025 Competition Licence . if you haven't already been contacted by Motorsport UK, please go onto their website and follow the relevant links for renewal or a new Licence. The process is allegedly easier, but the verdict is not so sure from people who've already done it !
Major's CCV Trial : Last year's Major's CCV trial was another success & everybody appears to have enjoyed themselves ! The new site up in Shropshire has lots of variety & the trials sections got lots of praise from the competitors. Big thanks to the Clerks of the Course, event organisers, competitors & the marshals - without all of you, the event wouldn't go ahead as well as it does !
Next years event has been booked with the land owners for 13th & 14th September 2025. Add it to your diaries now !
Results are available via the separate webpage, accessible via the Menu or here.
Motorsport UK Competition Licences : All new trials competitors (drivers & passengers) : Please note you need a Competition Licence to take part. More info here.
